I’m almost packed and ready to go to the RT Booklovers Convention in Columbus, OH at the Hyatt Regency! If you’re at the conference this week look for me! I’ll be at Club RT on Friday, April 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. and the Giant Book Faire on Saturday, May 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
I've packed and shipped some great giveaways for the conference!
The rains didn’t arrive as predicted yesterday so Buddy, Bella and I decided to mix it up and take a walk through Richmond’s Hollywood Cemetery. Its a large, sprawling cemetery that overlooks the city of Richmond and the James River. Opened in 1849, it’s layout is garden style and it was named for the holly trees dotting the property. Hollywood Cemetery is the final resting place to U.S. Presidents James Monroe and John Tyler, Confederate President Jefferson Davis, generals, soldiers and countless Richmond families.
The Pyramid was build as a memorial to the Confederate dead.

I had the pleasure of attending the FBI Citizen’s Academy Meeting a couple of days ago. We had two great speakers including Daryl Hulce who discussed the FBI-Safe On-Line Surfing also known as the FBI-SOS Program (http://www.fbi-sos.org). The FBI-SOS program “empowers the Internet Generation to recognize and react to online dangers.”
Also speaking was Ryan Kules who represented the Wounded Warrior Project (http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org). The Wounded Warrior Project “raises awareness and enlists the public to aid severely injured service men and women.”
Both these programs are non-profit and I encourage you to visit their websites.
I made it by the local gun show this past weekend. I find these shows can be a great place to do research–experts, hand-on demonstrations, books. This go around all I picked up was a MRE (Meal Ready-to-Eat). This meal was the beef patty with wheat crackers. Sadly, no dessert was included in this packet. I can’t say I was a fan of this flavor but Buddy and Bella where happy to eat the leftovers.
Often my police characters carry an MRE in the trunk of their cars.
This meal featured a beef patty, barbecue sauce and wheat crackers.
